Haileybury Waterlions Swimming Club

Staying Informed

It's important to have good communication between the club, the coaches, the swimmers and their parents.

Here are the main ways we keep everybody informed.

Just click on one of these topics to jump straight to it, or browse down the page to get all the information you might need.

Club Noticeboard:

The club noticeboard at the pool

There is a Club Noticeboard in the foyer area of the Haileybury College pool near the stairs (the noticeboard near the office is for the Fastlane Aquatics swim school). There is also a noticeboard at the other Haileybury pools for the swimmers there.

The noticeboards are the main communication lines to what is happening in the club. Notices and flyers for all swim meets, social activities, meetings, qualifying times plus a whole lot more are displayed for your information. It is very important that both parents and swimmers read the noticeboard regularly.

We are aware that most new parents are overwhelmed by the amount and type of information on the noticeboard. Please ask someone to give you a rundown of what's up there and what may apply to you.

Newsletter:

The club also puts out a regular newsletter. This is another way of keeping in touch. Anyone can contribute to the newsletter by leaving a note in the Blue Box located outside the pool office. All contributions are very much appreciated whether it is local gossip, a good healthy recipe or news relevant to swimming in general.

To save costs and to reduce paper usage, we will be emailing newsletters rather than printing them. There will be a copy placed on the noticeboard as well. Therefore it is vital that you provide an email address on your Membership Application form and also notify the Registrar of changes to your email address.

The "Blue Box":

The Blue Box at the pool office

Entries for some swim meets are required to be placed in this box so that they can be sent off as a group. These are usually club meets or District Meets. Next to the club noticeboard in the foyer of the Haileybury pool is the "Blue Box" (previously it was on the right-hand end of the bench in front of the office at the entrance to the pool as shown here). Entries for some swim meets (usually club meets or District Meets) are required to be placed in this box so that they can be sent off as a group.

Any other letters or paperwork for the club can also be left in this box.

Do NOT leave any cash or valuables in this box. We cannot guarantee the security of the box. Any cash must be given directly to a committee member.

If entries are to be sent through the club, this will be clearly marked on the meet flyers on the notice boards. Not all entries go through the club. You will be required to send some of them directly to the addresses marked on the individual flyers. If in doubt, please ask someone.

Assistance:

If there is anything at all that you are unsure of or need more information about, please talk to any committee member or ask your coach to point you in the right direction.

Alternatively, leave a note in the Blue Box or email your question to one of the committee contacts on the Contact Us page.
